Photos, videos and AI processing

Moment Language turns selected moments from your photo library into language-learning content. Photo access is controlled by iOS permissions and your in-app photo settings. Local selection and filtering happen on your device. AI processing begins only after you consent in the app.

Selected photos are resized and redrawn before upload to remove embedded image metadata. Live Photos use their still image. For eligible short videos, the app may send up to three processed still frames and an optional on-device speech transcript. This flow does not upload the original video or audio recording, or your entire photo library.

Requests also include your language preferences, learning level and limited relevant learning context, including up to 12 locally stored memory entries. These inputs are used to generate learning text, translations and expressions. Our production gateway and configured Qwen model service are in Singapore. Please choose media that you are entitled to share, including when other people appear in it.

Speech playback

To generate narration, we send the text to be read, language and voice settings to Qwen through our gateway. Speech requests do not include your photos or photo-library contents. Generated audio and timing information are cached on your device, with a 64 MB limit and seven-day expiry policy. Cache pruning happens when the app manages the cache; iOS may remove cached files earlier.

Subscriptions

Apple processes purchases. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore subscriptions and determine access to paid features. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipts or transaction information, subscription status, and relevant device and app technical information. Moment Language does not require a separate account. We do not receive your payment-card details.

Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings. Deleting Moment Language does not cancel your subscription. RevenueCat does not receive your photos or generated learning text through our subscription integration.

Storage and retention

Learning content, language settings, photo-library references, saved expressions and learning memory are stored on your device. The app references original media in your photo library rather than maintaining a permanent duplicate. Playback and processing may create temporary files. Local app data may be included in device backups according to your iOS settings.

Our application gateway has no user-content database and does not intentionally persist uploaded media or learning conversations. This does not mean that every service has zero retention: infrastructure and service providers process operational, security, usage and billing records to deliver and protect their services, subject to their applicable terms and legal obligations.

We retain support correspondence as needed to answer your request, resolve related issues and meet applicable legal obligations. Subscription records are retained as needed to provide purchase validation and restoration, handle disputes and comply with legal requirements. You can contact us to request deletion; some transaction or legal records may need to be retained.

Service providers and international processing

We use Alibaba Cloud Function Compute and Model Studio (Qwen) for generation and speech, Apple for purchases and platform services, and RevenueCat for subscription management. These providers may use infrastructure outside your country. Our AI processing is configured for Singapore; RevenueCat documents use of infrastructure in the United States.

Alibaba Cloud states that Model Studio customer data is not used for model training without consent. We do not use your submitted photos or learning content to train our own models. Provider processing and retention remain subject to the applicable service terms; we do not promise zero retention across all providers.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The app does not use advertising tracking. Service providers receive information needed to perform the functions described here; information may also be disclosed when required by law or to protect the security and rights of users and the service.

Your choices and rights

You can stop automatic processing, change the album or supply mode, and revoke photo or speech-recognition access in iOS Settings. These choices prevent future access or processing; they do not undo requests already completed. Manual narration can remain available when automatic speech is disabled.

You can remove saved expressions in the app. Deleting the app removes local data from that installation, but does not delete original photos, cancel subscriptions, or necessarily remove backups or records held by providers.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights. We may need information to verify and locate the relevant record. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already performed lawfully.

Why we process information

We use information to provide the features you request, process your subscription, respond to support requests and keep the service secure. Where applicable, we rely on your consent for optional AI processing and permissions, performance of our agreement for requested services and purchases, legitimate interests for necessary service security and support, and legal obligations for required records. We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Children

Moment Language is intended primarily for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and address it. Adults should take care when choosing photos or videos containing children or other people.

This page and policy updates

This policy page has no advertising analytics added by us. Its hosting and security providers, OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, may process basic connection and request information to deliver and protect the page. Visiting this page does not give it access to your photo library or your app data.

We will update this policy when our practices change, revise the date above, and provide further notice or request consent when required.
